As clinic competition heats up in Miami-Dade and Congress looks at trimming its payments to Medicare health maintenance organizations, the Humana-owned CAC clinics are expanding services — keeping three clinics open weeknights until 10 p.m. and having doctors make house calls to certain seniors.

At month's end, the Bonaventure Community Bus Service will be hitting the brakes on its route through parts of Weston.<p/> The Weston City Commission approved a resolution to terminate the free city-sponsored shuttle bus at its Oct. 5 meeting. The service is scheduled to end Oct. 30, meaning a small group of seniors will now have to find new transportation to places like the grocery store, the drugstore and the mall. Riders will be notified when calling for reservations, through notices on the bus and on the city website.
