An elderly man was found dead Thursday evening off the 79th Street Causeway, fire officials said.<p/> A pilot in a small plane flying over the area called 911 about 6:30 p.m. to report an unconscious man slumped against the rocks near the water at the causeway, said Miami Fire-Rescue spokesman Ignatius Carroll.

A man shot a woman in the stomach Sunday morning after an argument in the home they shared, Wilton Manors police said.<p/> The 48-year old woman, whom police did not immediately identify, was taken to Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. She underwent surgery there but her condition was not known, Detective David Jones, a Wilton Manors police spokesman, said Sunday evening.
