Rickenbacker Causeway
Just south of downtown Miami you can catch the Rickenbacker Causeway and cruise on down to Key Biscayne. It’s not just another bridge to cross, in fact there’s a lot happening right by the bridge – and so while a natural tendency might be to just zoom on down to Key Biscayne, you may want to stop and discover a bit of the area right around the bridge, also known as the William M Powell bridge.
The view from the top of the bridge is awesome, with a full view of Brickell and downtown Miami. You can only get this view if you park at the south end of the bridge and hike up either side’s walkways.
Looking northeast, you get South Beach (Miami Beach) and Fisher Island
Looking northwest to the bridge from the recreation area. Here you find that there is a traditional latin culture of barbque, and family gatherings.
You can get in some wind boarding ad kayaking
Right at the south end of the Powell bridge, you will find Miami Seaplane – and the Rusty Pelican resaurant
Ah, one more view …
